Ieri mattina la classe di mio figlio Antonio è andata in visita al Museo Malacologico di Cupra Marittima . Pochi sanno che questo museo è … la più grande struttura museale esistente al mondo dedicata alle conchiglie (e non solo).
Il Museo è attivo dal 1977, è stato vistato da oltre 1 milione di persone e vi sono esposti circa 950.000 reperti tra i quasi 9.000.000 di esemplari conservati nel museo stesso. Basterebbero questi numeri per evidenziare l’importanza di questo museo eppure, nonostante si trovi a soli 10km da San Benedetto del Tronto, pochissimi miei conterranei hanno la curiosità di fargli visita. Io l’ho fatto (ma sono trascorsi ormai un paio di lustri) e sono felice che anche mio figlio sia tornando dalla gita pieno di stupore per questo spettacolo di madre natura.
Oltre che dalle “infinite” varietà di conchiglie presenti, Antonio è rimasto affascinato dalla sez. riguardante gli Squali e da quella riguardante … “Giuseppe”, uno straordinario fossile di dinosauro acquatico (Mososauro del Marocco) vissuto 80 milioni di anni e perfettamente conservato nella sua interezza (8 metri!!!).
Molto spesso gli ospiti dei nostri appartamenti mi chiedono dove, oltre che (ovviamente) al mare, vale la pena spendere del tempo in Riviera e la mia risposta è necessariamente incompleta vista la varietà di interessi che il Piceno sa offrire (e di cui mi piacerebbe parlarvi prossimamente) però posso assicurarvi che chi ha seguito il mio consiglio di far visita a questo museo ne è rimasto affascinato.
